Welcome to The Midcounties Co-operative election site where you will find all you need to know about the Society’s Elections 2024. This is an exciting time in the Society’s calendar, a time when we put into action one of our core values, Democracy.

If you wish to nominate yourself to stand for the Board of Directors and/or the Member Engagement Committee, we recommend reading the Useful documents which will give you a feel for the roles, what’s expected and the criteria in order to put yourself forward.

What happens next?

Come back to this page when nominations open on Monday 10 June at 9:00am to submit your application. If you wish to stand for the Board you will also need to attend one of our virtual Candidates’ Forums taking place on 27 June and 11 July at 6:00pm. Please note, nominations close on Monday 15 July at 5:00pm.

Here’s what to do…

  • Read the Useful Documents to ensure you are eligible to stand
  • If you wish to nominate yourself for both the Board and the Member Engagement Committee (‘MEC’) then you will need to complete two separate applications
  • This year there are 5 vacancies on the Board and 2 vacancies on the MEC (1 of which is exclusively reserved for a Young Co-operator under 30). For more information on our Young Co-operator Network, please visit here.
  • Board candidates only – you need to attend one of our virtual Candidates’ Forums taking place on 27 June and 11 July at 6pm to be eligible to stand. Both Forums are taking place over Microsoft Teams. In order to book onto a Forum please email [email protected].

Please note, nominations close at 5:00pm on 15 July so ensure you give yourself plenty of time to complete your application.

Nominations for this year’s elections closed on 15 July.

What happens next?

Voting will open from 2 September, so look out for your voting instructions (via post or email) and make sure you have your say. Please note, you need to have been a member for at least 6 months prior to the ballot closing (so on or before 2 April 2024) to be eligible to vote.

The information on the candidates and the reason why they have put themselves forward, will be available here, together with the option to cast your vote online. Voting will then close at 5:00pm on 2 October. The results of the elections will be communicated to the members at the Half Year meeting on 9 October.

Voting is now open for members who joined the Society on or before 2 April 2024.

In this year’s elections, there are five vacancies on the Board and two vacancies on the Member Engagement Committee (MEC). One of the two vacancies on the MEC has been reserved for a member under the age of 30. You can see the Board Candidate videos under the ‘Meet the Board Candidates’ carousel below. To see the Board and MEC candidates address statements and to vote, please click on the green ‘Cast your vote now’ button. You will be asked to enter the unique codes which are printed on your ballot paper. You will then be able to view the candidates’ address statements and vote.

Alternatively, if your ballot paper has been emailed to you, you’ll be able to vote by clicking on the link in the email. Your unique codes will be auto-filled.

If you haven’t received any voting information and you would like to vote, please contact CES customer service at [email protected] who will be able to confirm if you are eligible to vote in this year’s election.

Voting will close at 5:00pm on 2 October and the results will be formally announced at the Society’s Half Year meeting on 9 October. The results will be posted on our website shortly after the Half Year meeting.
